It seems that the harder you hit it the less accurate you become. Of course this is somewhat negated by the fact you have shorter irons in to greens and those shorter irons allow you some more flexibility.

What if you had to choose? What if you had to choose between hitting the ball 50 miles or keeping the ball in play for 14 fairways and 18 greens a round?

If you’re hitting the majority of greens in regulation, you have many birdie putts. If you hit most of the fairways you can hit the ball straighter and not manufacture shots.

If you hit it past the shit, then it doesn’t matter. If you can blast a 7 iron 180 then you are, by default, hitting shorter clubs anyway.

I’ve always thought my guys should have a mixture of both. Enough power to where the golf course isn’t intimidating but played with accuracy so that rather than thinking up shots to recover you can focus on scoring. I’m not a stack and tilter by any means but Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett (the founders of Stack and Tilt) had it pretty right where they teach guys to have a consistent low point in the swing with enough power to play the course.
