Like the Limp Bizkit song says, “…everything is f%$#ed.”
Well, it’s not really. Golf appears to be going strong and attracting some younger folks to it. These younger folks are used to things that folks of my generation (Generation X) are not. They have phones and YouTube and TikTok and can learn basically anything from their pocket.
Except golf. You can learn the basics from YouTube. You may even find something that works for you. But golf is an individual game with individual needs – even at the beginning stage. YouTube isn’t going to help you hit a 7 iron from 150 from a hanging lie to a back right flagstick. You can get all the angles and deviations and sequences in the world told you – but someone on hand to help YOU is going to remain. Unless AI can figure out YOUR swing with YOUR body tendencies – a good golf pro is a must. Not a technical wonder kid, which has become all the rage, but a pro who can teach YOU what YOU need.
So, I guess in that regard, everything is f&^%ed.
