The answer to this is not a difficult as it sounds. There are a plethora of brands and sub-brands and models and specifications for clubs. The choice alone is enough to make a grown man weep in terror.

Take Titleist, for example.

They have just released 4 models of irons from the ‘pro’ model to the game-improvement iron called the T350. Consider the range of shaft options, grip options, lofts and lies, spin rates and goodness knows what else you have a brain like a pocket full of headphone cords.

Combine that with wedges, a putter, fairway woods and a driver and, man, it gets all a bit heavy.

Thankfully you don’t have to guess.

At the club I’m based at – The Beautiful Hawkes Bay Golf Club – we are blessed with Darryn Turley. He’s a long-term retailer and has been a representative player for years. He is familiar with the ins and out of the golf club world and can effectively fit a player in to a set of clubs with all the tools and data.

Guys like Darryn are worth their weight in gold. They have a vested interest in you getting the right gear because you see them at the course every time you’re there. Fitting you into a big investment that is shite is bankrupt. Not only that but if you can find a knowledgeable and capable guy who actually does care for your game, you are ahead of the curve. You can expect personal service and after-market service too.

So, the right clubs for you are the ones that suit you. You have a unique swing and physical make-up. Let the clubs compliment those features and find a pro like Darryn to make sure that’s the case.
