Is it being on plane? Is it speed? Is it pure contact? Could it be a killer short game?

Anyone, and I mean anyone, can learn these things. There will always be golfers who are better at little white ball control than others but anyone can learn to play pretty well.

You can learn to hit the ball better. You can learn to hit crispier sand shots. You can bring your handicap down – these are technical matters.

The one thing you need to play GREAT golf is attitude.

You need a great attitude to everything you do in this game. In order to win you need a winner’s attitude. In order to be calm you’ll need a calm and happy attitude. Those with a terrible attitude are destined to fail.

I look at my history in golf and realise that at times I have been guilty of a bad attitude as I’m sure most have. That’s ok…we can rectify that. But, having hung around golf clubs for a lot of my adult life you can tell the bad attitudes from the good. The serial critic of all things the club does; The club thrower and greens chief commentator; the excuse-inator; Frost policy deniers. All these are bad attitudes around golf. To really improve your golf, bring the good attitude to the course. Whether it be playing, having lessons, practicing or just hanging out. Attitude is number ONE.
