Thinking about what I do is a common thing. Wondering if it could be done better or whether it is what it is.
Coaching golf is an interesting vocation. On the one hand you have the full swing, short game, putting, clubs, shoes and so on. On the other you have the golf course. By some odd cock up, the two hands can be somewhat unrelated when it comes to playing great golf. Of course that’s just silly. You have to have some level of skill to transfer to the course. But how?
I can teach all day on the range. I’m a range rat myself and love to hit balls and create shots. One has always been fascinated by the mechanics of the whole thing. But, does it mean better golf?
Maybe sometimes. Maybe. If you want to play great golf you have to train to play great golf. A great swing doesn’t equal great golf. Knowing how to play and executing is great golf.
SOOOOOO….why do we not do more lessons/coaching/teaching on the course? We being golf pros. You being the players. Perhaps that’s what we should do…I will explore this over the next few days.
