You know, from 7 feet (2.1 metres), PGA Tour Players miss 39.4% of putts. WTF!?
The best players in the world with the best equipment and the best greens miss almost 40% from 7 feet?
Please tell me what chance you and I have?
I see golfers on the putting green before their round banging long putts around the green. Why? I’m a fairly simple chap. Aren’t you just practicing missing?
Confidence is the most underrated piece of skill in golf. If you have confidence you can overcome a lot of flaws in your game. So…
If you are practicing putts to a hole, why not do it from close range? Inside 3 feet is good. You’ll see and hear the ball go in making your confidence go up. The more your confidence goes up the more short putts you will hole.

And so, begins a domino effect.
As your short putts become easier, your long putts have less pressure to get tight. The pressure is off your long putts so your approaches are less pressured. When your approaches are easier the pressure is off your drives. The whole game is easier thanks to confidence in short putts. Of course, the reverse is also true.
So, hole more short ones. Stop practicing to a hole from outside 5 feet. Throw a tee down and putt to that. Who cares? Just don’t practice missing!
