Well, whoopdy doo.
I wrote a book a while back about the struggles of mental health and how you can find some real-life techniques to get you through. Well, congratulations me. I’m not here today to blow smoke up my own arse. I have a point, I promise.
The point is, it was hard work. I wanted to write a book, so I did. But….
I liked the idea of having written a book. The idea of being a published author was cool. But then reality set in. The actual writing, compilation and publishing was fucking hard work. I battled on because that’s what I wanted. The book may hold the record for the most undersold book of all time. That doesn’t matter. What matters is that I wanted that and I did it.
Your golf game is the same. And, you have to distinguish between liking the idea of being a great golfer or actually wanting to be a great golfer. If you want to be a great golfer you have to put n the hard slog. The training on shit days. The practice when you feel like shit. The sacrifices you have to make. I have seen many golfers who like the idea of being a great player. Those golfers inevitably end up pretty good but don’t play to their full potential.
Ask yourself what you want from golf. Do you want to have fun hitting cool shots? Do you want to be a PGA Tour player? Do you just want to puddle around playing with mates? Whatever it is, define it. Then you can decide if the slog is for you.
Oh the link to the book is…
