This past weekend saw me slack off some. My beautiful wife and I got away for three days. But, the weekend provided Kiwi sports fans with respite from the heartbreaking World Cup loss.
Steve Alker, whose swing hasn’t changed in 100 years, won the Champions Tour Championship for the second year straight. This means Steve banks another healthy cheque and is finding the game we all knew he had.
Ben Campbell won the Hong Kong Open, seeing off Cam Smith and a host of others. He has had a tough run but has come through pretty well I’d say. Picking up $360,000USD isn’t bad either!

Not a Kiwi but George Bryan who is a popular YouTuber played on the PGA Tour in Bermuda. Not only that, he played alongside his brother and PGA Tour winner, Wesley. The brothers both made the cut and played together in the third round.
I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately and one has caught my ear. Deep Dive by Ali Abdaal.
Though not about golf or the short game it has some wonderful interviews with people from all industries including our very own, Dan Carter. Get listening!
My point is, dreams do come true. I have said it before and I’ll say it again – never ever give up. Whether you want to make a club team or win on the PGA Tour, stick to your dreams and don’t regret not giving it a shot. You can do it.
In coaching I came up with a wee checklist to help with your wedge game.

Yeah there’s a lot to do prior to hitting the shot, but it’s the easiest way to see improvement.
