Some time ago, like 20 years ago, I witnessed some of the best short games in the country. I had the privilege of playing and learning from these guys.
A while later during my time in another city I toyed with the idea of teaching short game as a specialty. For one reason or another I moved cities and the idea never really became a reality. Now that Little White Balls has a base of operations it’s clear that coaching golfers is my thing. No surprise there. But, I have a particular passion for short game coaching.
Don’t get me wrong – I love to coach and teach the full swing, playing, equipment and the like but short game is my fave. The way wedges interact with the ball and ground is so cool. The way we can manipulate the wedges to accommodate certain shots is awesome. Putting is endlessly complicated but the premise is so simple. Teaching someone to hit the ball with their full swing is so good. It’s so rewarding to see a golfers’ face light up when they pure one down the middle. But, I think if you want better scores, the full swing is only half the battle. If we want lower scores – short game is the way to improve.
So….coming soon I am setting up The Short Game Institute. A system of coaching to get you to play your best even when you’re not playing your best. Turning 5 into 4. Two more one-putts a round. Spinny wedges. Floaty lobs and sick sand shots.
To test the system – I need 10 golfers.
