We can use the driving range to our advantage by creating a baseline swing that we can rely on to make solid contact will the ball. BUT…

It’s a rare thing to have a dead flat, pure lie on the golf course, other than a tee box and even then it can be tough. The course is a place of crappy lies and wind and sand and rough and slopes and goodness knows what else. What to do, he says?

We need to be adaptable; like Bruce Lee said, “Be like water.” We have to adapt our swings and body movements to the shot at hand. It may be that your ball is below your feet and you require more knee flex and a more upright swing. It may be that your ball is sitting down in the rough and you need to put the ball back and hit down on it. It may be windy and your stance needs to be a little wider. All of this comes with practice and experience but as part of the 13 lessons, it’s a must.

I’ll see you at the Hawkes Bay Golf Club for coaching. Play the beautiful course, buy the latest equipment and enjoy a cold one after your game. The friendliest little club in Hawkes Bay.
