Don’t sweat the small stuff. Let the little things go. It’s soooo trivial.
All pieces of advice that are useful at times. What I’ve found is that coaching a golf swing or coaching someone to play a little better, the small, trivial, minor things often make the most difference.
Take on-course coaching as an example. A small aim change from one side of the tee box to another to compensate for a curve can make the difference between being in play and being in the trees. Nothing technical; nothing advanced; no launch monitor data; just a simple strategic change.
Or, when coaching a player ball striking, perhaps a minor change in set up/ball position/posture will be the difference between a hosel rocket and a pure strike. In fact, when I’m coaching I like to employ Occam’s Razor – Entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity – simply put, the most obvious answer is probably the right one. This is especially true of the golf swing. What may seem trivial is probably the answer we are looking for.
Do sweat the small stuff. Don’t let the little things go. It’s not soooo trivial.
