Along with the self integrity that goes with playing golf, like respecting the rules, protecting the field, looking after the course etc we have to have self integrity when it comes to our own game.

We can do things with a golf ball and not others. Some of us can work the ball both ways – others can’t. Some of us can spin a low checking wedge – some can’t. Some of us can flop it over a pine tree – some can’t.

What we should realise is that when playing golf we should only do what we can do. Trying a draw to a tight left flag over a bunker to a firm green and water behind knowing you can only hit fades is probably a recipe for disaster. We should have the self integrity enough to know what we can and cannot do and take action.

Let’s also have the ability to realise that perhaps your 8 iron doesn’t carry 160. Let’s be realistic about that. We can teach you to hit it farther but have the integrity to know what an average 8 iron flies.

When we are in coaching sessions then we can give you the skills and knowledge to be able to execute new things.

Be realistic about your game and you’ll find yourself having better scores and less frustration. Be realistic about your game and your coach can better help you improve.
