Power is a funny word. It conjures thoughts of barrel chested warriors leading their armies to victory. Or perhaps a billionaire controlling the industry they are in. Though people want to ascend to having more power, online golf coaching can be a minefield.

We, as a society, look for experts in the fields in which we are interested. A PhD in psychology would be a good place to look for help with understanding human emotion. A PGA pro would be a good person to teach you golf.

The fact is, this may not always be the case. A PhD may have a narrow scope of understanding and may not be able to comment accurately on emotional disorders. PGA pros are the same. Some may not have the capability to help your game.*

The online landscape can breed charlatans and fakes. And, this is the reason I encourage you to do your research when it comes to choosing an online pro or pro in general. This is your game after all and you want the best for it. The power of suggestion, just because some online dude who presents as a ‘pro’, is massive and it pays to beware.

*Just as a side note, I haven’t met many PGA pros in New Zealand or Australia or for that matter, anywhere, that don’t know their shit. The ones I have spoken to have vast amounts of knowledge and understanding across a variety of topics. In fact, I hope to speak to lots of them to hear their insights about the game and what their specialties are.
