Breathe.
It might sound remarkably obvious to say ‘breathe’, after all you do it naturally. And what, pray tell, does it have to do with good golf, Dan, you Muppet?
Well…people have known for thousands of years that correct breathing techniques can lessen CO2 and increase oxygen in you blood stream. This leads to better feelings and clearer decision making. I’m certainly no expert but have been taught by some when it comes to breathing for golf.
When you inhale – make sure your belly expands not just your chest. Don’t force it. Then let it out naturally. The air will reach the bottom of your lungs and oxygenate the blood better that way. In stressful situations like teeing off in front of a bunch of people or a 4 footer to shoot 69 focus on your breath. Let your body rid itself of the nervy feelings and feel better. During coaching sessions it is likely to be a touch stressful having some pro look at your swing. We start with some breath work just to calm things and set us up for a great session,
Please look into Pranayama breathing or Tao breathing and try for yourself. If you have any concerns about your health or before you start on a new health regime, please contact your doctor straight away.
